Our Story

Hi, first of all thank you for being here! We're Marcela & Merel and we would like tell our story. Before we started the Level UP Music Academy we played together in prog/rock/metal projects The Gentle Storm and MaYaN. Except from having a great chemistry and sharing lots of interest (like crossfit, good food, drinks and games), we also noticed that we approach a lot of things the same way and share the same vision if it's about teaching and the care we have for our students. This is why we decided to join our forces and created the Level Up Music Academy.

There’s a huge amount of online lessons available, but we found that these lacked care, focus on technique, room to get feedback and tricks to stay motivated. Just to name a few things. We love to share our knowledge and share these with our students. We want to take your musical abilities to the next level.

Meet Our Lead Instructors

Marcela Bovio

Certified Universal Voice Teacher.

I’m totally convinced that anyone, with the right amount of passion and hard work, can learn how to sing in any style there is. If I’m to teach you you can be sure I’ll do my best to make you feel totally comfortable to explore your instrument. I will give you tools and tricks to make the most out of your voice, and ways for you to hold on to that new knowledge so you can sing with confidence and focus on the emotion of singing! I specialise in classical singing, as well as metal, rock and pop styles.

Work: Ayreon, Dark Horse White Horse, MaYaN, Stream of Passion, The Gentle Storm, solo work and many studio sessions.

Merel Bechtold

Hi I’m Merel, and I love to inspire other people to get the best out of themselves. This is also a big part of my teaching style. I’m a metal guitarist, but I love all kinds of genres. Metal guitar is just so much fun, it’s challenging and limitless. That’s also why I’m super focussed on nailing the technical aspects of the instrument, because I believe that if you nail that, you can apply that to everything you’re going to play. Except from that I think it’s important that my students are mindful about what they want to learn and set goals for themselves, instead of me deciding what they are going to learn. I’m not afraid of sharing my tricks, instead I love to share and help my students to become a better player and get the best out of themselves.

Work: Dear Mother, MaYaN, Delain, The Gentle Storm, Purest of Pain.
Bachelor of pop music (Rockacademie)
